Extreme Heat Persists Across Oklahoma with Limited Rain Chances
US · Published Aug 13, 2026
A persistent heat dome remains anchored over Oklahoma, bringing extreme temperatures and limited chances of rain for the next nine days.
According to KWTV, temperatures under clear skies will drop to the low 90s°F (32-34°C) by 10 PM on Wednesday evening, with overnight lows expected to reach the mid to upper 70s°F (24-26°C).

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Heat indices exceeding 105°F (40.5°C) can lead to heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The dry and windy conditions also elevate the risk of wildfires, especially in areas with dry vegetation. Residents in far-western and northwestern Oklahoma may experience isolated storms, but the majority of the state will remain dry, prolonging the fire threat.
